Anguilla’s Commercial Online Registration Network
Anguillian Delegation Launch ACORN in South America

Senior representatives from the Government of Anguilla's Financial Services Department will present Anguilla's Commercial Online Registration Network (ACORN) to leading players of the South American financial services community next week.

Lanston Connor, The Government of Anguilla's Registrar of Companies and Alan Jones Anguilla's Registrar of Commercial Activities, will give a presentation at the two-day conference: Shorex 2000 South America, being held in Punta Del Este, Uruguay on 9/10 November 2000.

Anguilla's financial services has targeted this South American event because it is the forum for Anguilla to influence existing and potential South American-based agents/customers says Mr Connor.

"Anguilla has a lot to offer the South American business community. ACORN is the world's only on-line company registration system and has changed the way business incorporates internationally-registered companies. Anguilla also offers first-class financial services which have been built around the jurisdiction's solid regulatory framework," he said.

During Shorex 2000 Alan Jones will lead a workshop entitled: 'Anguilla: tried, trusted and secure' which will examine the reasons for choosing Anguilla as a centre to do business. Mr Jones will also give a live demonstration of the ACORN system during his presentation.

Mr Connor says the ACORN system is the modern way in which companies are formed. ACORN has been designed to accommodate the needs of global customers as licensed agents can form a company in Anguilla almost instantaneously and the online system operates in real time anywhere in the world.

ACORN enhances Anguilla's regulatory practices because company formation is overseen by the territory's regulator. The recent KPMG Report commissioned by the UK Government, Bermuda and the Caribbean overseas territories - of which Anguilla is one - endorsed ACORN's regulatory activity and capability.

"The overall operation of the company registry in general is an example of how on-line registration can be developed in a well-regulated manner." The Review considered that ACORN enhances rather than detracts from the regulatory environment.

"The favourable outcome of the KPMG Review is ACORN's stamp of approval which will no doubt enhance this marketing venture to Uruguay. This is the final roadshow for the year coordinated by the joint Anguilla Financial Services Association/Government Marketing and Promotions Committee. This marketing initiative will place Anguilla in an excellent position for the New Year when we anticipate a substantial increase in company incorporations," said Mr Connor.
