About the author:

Alan Ransom holds the degrees of B.A., LL.B, and Juris Doctor. He also earned an LL.M in trade regulation law at New York University School of Law. He served on the Board of Editors of his Law Review and started private corporate and commercial practice in Rhode island in 1966 before joining the Federal trade Commission as a trial attorney for the Bureau of Competition in Washington D.C. in 1970.

After a year teaching at the Faculty of Law, University of West Indies, he returned to Washington where he served as Managing Editor of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Reporter. From 1973 to 1979, he served as legal counsel to the United State House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary.

In 1979 he moved to Sydney, Australia to lecture and practice as a barrister. He has held the position of Visiting Associate Professor of Law and is a member of the New South Wales Bar, specializing in commercial trade practices matters.

He has lived in Anguilla since January 1995, serving as company director and trust manager. He is the author and co-author of four books and numerous articles on commercial law, including an extensive two-part analysis of the Jamaican Fair Competition Act 1993. His latest publication is this book.
